Vehicle Maintenance and Inspections

Under Construction

A robust Vehicle Maintenance and Inspection procedure is essential for the safe operation of any vehicle and must be able to stand scrutiny of the the Enforcement Agencies. Both the police and VOSA officials have the power to inspect vehicles at depots and the roadside, are able to prohibit vehicles from continuing their journeys if the vehicle has serious defects. Operators, drivers and vehicle engineers all have significant responsibilities to ensure that vehicles are fit for service.

I can advise operators on how to put good practices into operation.

Service Periods - When and what? In accordance with the manufacturers schedules.

Safety Inspections - How often? Depends on the type of vehicle, mileage and the requirements of the Licensing Authorities.

Drivers' Inspection, defect and reporting system. Vehicles should be inspected by the drivers before driving and any defects recorded and reported in accordance to the operator's requirements and those recommended by the Licensing and Enforcement Agencies.
