BSOG - Bus Service Operators' Grant (formerly Fuel Duty Rebate) is not only available for the operation of registered local bus services, but is also available
to operators of vehicles with Small Bus Permits (Section 19) when providing services for some groups of passengers.
Vehicle Maintenance and Inspections A robust Vehicle Maintenance and Inspection procedure is essential for the safe operation of any vehicle and must be able to
stand scrutiny of the the Enforcement Agencies. Both the police and VOSA officials have the power to inspect vehicles
at the roadside and are able to prohibit vehicles from continuing their journeys if the vehicle has serious defects. Operators,
drivers and vehicle engineers all have significant responsibilities to ensure that vehicles are fit for service.
