Driver Licensing

Website under construction.

I can advise on the Driving Licence requirements to drive the vehicles you operate.

Minibuses 9-16 passenger seats (Commercial) Category D1
No restriction code on licence

Minibuses 9-16 passenger seats (Non-commercial) Category D1
May have restriction code 101 (not for hire and reward)

Driving 9-16 passenger seat minibuses can be a complex issue with regards to Driving Licence requirements.

Drivers who passed their car test before 1 January 1997 are most likely to hold a Driving Licence which includes Category D1 as well Category B entitlement. (Group A on old style UK pre-EU Driving Licences - all cars and non-commercial minibuses)

Drivers who passed their car test from 1 January 1997 onwards are very unlikely to hold a Category D1 entitlement unless they have taken a further Driving Standards Agency (DSA) Driving Test for that category of vehicle.

Only in limited circumstances may drivers be able to drive minibuses without a Category D1 entitlement.

Overseas Licences
